The story behind "A Song for an Angel"

Leander Mendoza Voice Studio proudly presents a one-night benefit concert for a little angel ( who is my newest neice)   who was born 26 weeks premature last April 15th. She was born to my Brother Norman and his partner Janine, who were only visiting Canada for a few weeks. Norman and Janine were scheduled to go back to Dubai on April 18th, when Janine's water began to leak , causing Janine to be rushed to Credit Valley Hospital emergency. The Doctors at Credit Valley, assessed her condition and were very concerned by the unborn child, therefore decided to transfer her to Sunnybrook Hospital where she had to stay indefinitely under observation and specialized medical services in the High Risk Maternity Department. Even with all the medical attempts to stop this pre-mature birth, Marie Eliz  decided she wanted to be born in Canada. Janine went into labour on April 15th, and finally gave birth to a beautiful, but frail baby, weighing only 808 grams (1Lbs 12.5 ounces)

It is truly a miracle that baby Marie Eliz survived, and is doing very well under the wonderful care of doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook NICU. Each day she shows a little bit of improvement but may be required to stay in NICU for the whole duration until her full term month in July.  However with prayers and support she has graduated to a less intrusive unit and has now been transferred to Credit Valley in June.

As for Norman and Janine, it has been both a happy and stressful occasion as they have no means of paying for the high cost of hospitalization, given that they have no health insurance as visitors in Canada.

This is why we need your support. Please come and enjoy a beautiful show with Leander Mendoza along with his very special guests Ms. Josie de Leon, Rita-Anne Tabago, and Nicole Ramos, with special participation of Vangie Alcasid, & 7-yr old Princess Guzman!
